TiP Technique Analysis: a quote from Chinese champion Yu Zhou
In 2019 TiP team has helped the Chinese ladies sprint kayak team with some biomechanical measurements and analysis over the winter and spring months. All culminating in an intense training clinic with the ladies while they were on an extended training camp in Europe (Olympic center in Walcz, Poland). All this was done to optimize their technique and team boats set up.
The season started perfectly with the Chinese ladies qualifying 2 K4 and 2 K2 boats into the final of World Cup 2 in Duisburg this year. Later in the season on the Szeged world championships China was the only nation besides Hungary to qualify the women’s kayak maximum quota number for Tokyo. A long and hard buildup ended up the best possible way for these ladies and their coaches. We are extremely proud of being a tiny pebble on their road to Tokyo.
Due to the size of the team and the amount of data to elaborate we couldn’t have done it without Andrea Pace. Andrea has worked over some long nights so we could put together all the data we needed and most importantly he added a precious interpretation on top of it. As always nothing less than magic from him!
We caught up with the fastest and most experienced member of the Chinese WK4 after Szeged: superstar paddler Yu Zhou.
”During the preparation for the 2019 World Championships, it was great to have you guys beside us to help. It was an honor for us to receive your help and your direct coaching, technique training is so much easier now. During the technique clinic, I have improved a lot in only a few days and have also become much more confident. The whole women’s team is very thankful to you and is hoping to have the chance to work together again next year leading to Tokio.”
