Training in Paradise is waking up from winter

Spring is definitely knocking on the door in Training Paradise. It was an unusually long and cold winter with heaps of snow. But as from this week all the three lakes are completely free of ice and the last patches of snow in the 3 valleys are melting quickly. With the Slovenian ski jumping team winning the clocing world cup competition for this season last week in Planica it is now officially time for summer sports to take over in TiP!

Athletes, groups, teams and clubs are already confirming their arrivals for the coming season.

We had the Swiss team with Fabio Wyss (U23 bronze in last year Europeans) and Stefan Domeisen training on lake Most na Soči for the past 2 weeks.

The Finish national canoe sprint team is coming to train on lake Bled at the end of April for 2 weeks with 15 people before leaving to Szeged for the first world cup of the season.

A group of 15 young Greek slalom paddlers is coming to train on the Soča river in Solkan in August.

And we have been arranging possible visits from athletes from Great Britain (rowing), New Zealand (sprint canoeing), Malta (sprint canoeing) and others…

Perfect paddling conditions at Most na Soci

Independently from us the rivers and lakes of Training in Paradise are already buzzing from paddlers of all sorts. There is cohorts of slalom paddlers using the warmer climate along the Soča river for early spring training, there is flatwater clubs training hard with athletes of all ages on the lakes of Most na Soči and Bohinj and there is rowers on lake Bled continuing the long rowing tradition of Bled.

Many downriver teams are also arriving for training camps on river Soča as it will host this year the European downriver championships in Bovec (May) and the World championships in Solkan (June). Training in Paradise area will also host 2 major triathlons that include kayaking instead of swimming. It is the ”Triatlon Jeklenih” on lake Bohinj and ”Triatlon Karavanke” on lake Bled.

It is promising to be a great first season for us and we are sure the word will spread quickly about what we are offering in TiP!
